Michael Jackson Fans in Liverpool St Flashmob

A day after the death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, fans assembled in Liverpool St at 5pm tonight for moonwalk and singalong. I saw the plans surface on Twitter, and I think the plan was to go into the station, but judging by this cool vid, it seemed to happen out in the street. I don’t think there’s many figures from the world of enterrainment that could inspire such a response from fans.
Were you amongst the crowd in Liverpool St? What was the atmosphere like? Why did you go? Share any thoughts, or links to more pictures and vids in the comments below.

Capture The Flag tonight!

All kinds of strange and excellent things happen in the City and this evening will see “Capture The Flag II” meeting in Liverpool Street Station at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
For those who’ve never played it they do helpfully explain the rules but basically it’s an adult version of playoground “tag” with a twist. This game is a followup to the original “Capture The Flag” in Covent Garden back in February. If you do go then let me know how you get on but if you see a bunch of people congregating at Liverpool Street tonight you know what they’re there for.
UPDATE:
I’m aware that the site in question has links to Reclaim The Streets and is mentioned on G20 protest sites but I trust you’ll use your adult discretion as to how much weight you give the Evening Standard’s version:
“The group Climate Camp will spend this evening playing hunting games to familiarise themselves with the area and tomorrow there will be a day-long seminar discussing the problems of carbon trading.”

“Win A London Pad” in Liverpool Street Station

WinALondonPad.com is a competition with a few twists. Here’s how it works: You buy an entry into the competition for £50, and you get a portable MP4 player for that. Then, each entry will be entered into a prize draw to win a block of serviced apartments in London, offering financial freedom for life. Proceeds from the competition will goto Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.
So it’s a win/win scenario and it helps a great cause. There’s only three weeks to go to the draw, and the organisers are planning a big push tomorrow (Friday 13th) by giving out free prizes at five London train stations, including Liverpool Street in the City.
Look out for people wearing a “Win A London Pad” T-Shirt at the station between 08.30 and 09.30 tomorrow morning and collect your codeword. Visit the website tomorrow before 19.30 and the first 10,000 to do so will claim a free prize. In total, £300,000 worth of prizes will be given away tomorrow.
And if you commute in via Waterlook, you may bump into former Big Brother contestant Chanelle Hayes handing out prizes. Chanelle? Was that the sound of a barrel being scraped? Oh well, shouldn’t be too harsh, it’s all for a good cause.
Liverpool St Flashmob

Have a look at this fun video of a flashmob descending on Liverpool St station. Actually, it’s an advert for T-Mobile and I suspect it’s a little more rehearsed and contrived than a genuine flashmob, but it still makes for a nice little video.
