Andaz Liverpool Street Hotel

The Andaz Liverpool Street Hotel is a Five Star, right in the City of London adjacent to Liverpool Street train station. It offers superb levels of accommodation and is almost unbeatable with its transport links - mainline rail and underground services just a few steps away, and many bus services available from Liverpool St and Bishopsgate.

It says in the blurb that the Andaz is a “former Victorian railway hotel”, which I think doesn’t really do this place justice and overlooks its proud history. This was formely the world famous Great Eastern Hotel, which opened in 1884. The Great Eastern Railway served Liverpool St, and this Hotel was an important part of the vision of the station. The hotel was extended in 1901 by designer, Colonel Robert Edis. So it is a little sad to see this historic hotel simply become the London Liverpool St branch of a large chain, but that’s progress I guess.

The Andaz does offer a fantastic acommodation experience. Forget queueing up to check in, just take a seat in the lounge and a member of staff will come to you with a portable computer to handle your check in. There are 267 guestrooms in the hotel - it’s the largest in the City - and they are all beautifully designed and furnished.

If you’re visiting the City of London and demand from your stay an excellent location and superior quality, you will not feel let down by the Andaz Liverpool Street Hotel.
